“It was one of the best shows we’ve ever had, despite the rain,” show stalwart Ray Sawtell said.
For 70 years Mr Sawtell has been a regular at the event, attending his first in 1946, and had never seen crowds enjoying themselves on this scale.
“The pavilion was outstanding; there were horses everywhere and the poultry were great, although the dairy section was down this year but a very high standard,” he said.
“There was a big crowd for the bull riding on Sunday and everyone was in a really happy mood.
“I just love the show for the atmosphere,” the Agricultural Societies Council of NSW board member said.
His wife Pam is also a show regular and attends both days each year.
“The whole show this year was a highlight!” she said.
Cobargo AP&H Society president Kevin Allen said well over 1000 people witnessed the best season ever due to the unseasonably wet summer months.
“It’s the highest standard we’ve ever seen in the pavilion, we won’t see a season like this again,” he said.
“We were all entertained by the local rodeo clowns, which was a spectacle on its own.”
Mr Allen said people from all over Australia and overseas attended the show, and there was entertainment organised by the youth of the Cobargo surrounds for the first time.
“There were ‘WWOOFers’ [Willing Workers on Organic Farms] here from Italy and Korea who had never seen anything like it before,” he said.
“They were so impressed they said they’re definitely coming back.
“We also had motorbikes here jumping around 50 feet in the air, which has never been seen here in Cobargo before,” Mr Allen said.
