But did you also know that she is a professional author with seven published novels and three books of short stories to her name?
On February 7, family and friends of Gantner will meet at the Four Winds Windsong Pavilion at Barragga Bay for a national literary event - Four Winds: Four Writers.
Fresh insights into Gantner’s career and readings from her latest book My Travelling Life will be presented by her son Carrillo Gantner.
You are invited to come along, share these personal perspectives and be part of conversations led by Margaret Throsby with fellow authors Rodney Hall, Nicholas Jose and Hannie Rayson.
Four Winds: Four Writers will be a literary feast as these three Australian writers will also present extracts from their latest works.
Jose will share Bapo, his new collection of short stories and Rayson will perform a piece from her memoir Hello, Beautiful! Scenes from a Life.
Hall, former Four Winds artistic director and previous resident of the Bermagui area, will read from Popeye Never Told You: Childhood Memories of the War.
Jose will launch My Travelling Life by Gantner, which is a collection of pieces and extracts from her personal journals.
Chat with the authors over a glass of wine, purchase autographed copies of their books and be transported to other worlds through the conversations and classic jazz piano interludes, performed by Robert Boughen.
Four Winds: Four Writers will take place on February 7 at the Four Winds festival site, Barragga Bay, with the curtain rising at 10.30am.
Lunch is included with the ticket price of $65/55 and bookings can be made here.
