Surf Lifesaving NSW has issued a warning of a swell along the NSW East Coast expected to reach four metres with a swell period of 12 seconds.
Bega Valley Shire Council’s recently conducted Wharves Risk Assessment recommended that the wharves are to close during dangerous surf conditions.
Conditions are expected to ease on Saturday night and both wharves should be open again on Sunday morning.
Access to the café and museum on Tathra wharf will not be affected by the closure.
Surf conditions along the NSW east coast will be hazardous for activities such as crossing coastal bars, rock fishing, swimming and surfing.
