There are approximately 52 children enrolled there this year, including six new faces in Kindergarten.
New school principal Kathryn Davis said these same numbers have been maintained in the school over the past few years, but they would have to wait for a couple of days to determine enrolments for sure as more children might start.
Kindergarten began on Thursday, while the rest of the classes went back the day before.
“Seeing the new Kindergarten children turn up in their brand new uniforms, with their fresh faces, it’s the best day of the year for me,” Ms Davis said.
There is a busy year of activities ahead being planned for the school.
“Our timetable is always very full as we work very closely with our community of schools on the Far South Coast,” Ms Davis said.
Activities include movie making, music camps, sports carnivals and more.
“I also hope to work closely with a parent who does cooking with the kids,” Ms Davis said.
Over in the Kindergarten rooms, teacher Jenny Hobbis said most of the six new pupils had been excited about starting school, although one had been a little nervous.
She said Thursday was more of an orientation day, to ease them into school.
Kindergarten pupil Jasmine Kornman said she was looking forward to playing snakes and ladders at maths time, Jack Garner wanted to read books and Dinara Macey couldn’t wait to get out to the playground.
