This is the second year holding a cheese section at the Cobargo Show and organisers are looking forward to it being even better and more impressive than the first one.
A lot of fun was had last year with experienced and novice home cheese makers presenting an amazing number of excellent quality varieties for judging.
Whether you’ve been making cheese for years, have recently attended a cheese-making course, or are just having a go for the first time in your kitchen, bring your entries along.
Enjoy this wonderful opportunity to have your cheeses judged by someone with over 20 years of international and local experience as a cheese maker and judge.
The Cobargo Show will be held on February 14-15.
Entries can be taken to the Cobargo Showground from 9am on Friday, February 13 - they must be in by 9am on the Saturday ready for judging.
There will be a public judging/explanation of the results at 11.30am on Saturday, in front of the main pavilion.
This is an entertaining, informative and unique opportunity to receive a full explanation of the judging results and to have a chat with the judge at the conclusion of proceedings.
There are nine classes covering soft and hard cheese varieties, fresh and marinated, yoghurt and fermented milk, and a best cheese board “ready to serve after dinner” class, looking at presentation and the cheeses.
First and second prizes will be awarded and a ribbon for champion cheese exhibit.
For more information, pick up a show schedule in Cobargo or at your local ag supply store, or contact Helen Schaefer on 0407 938 580.
The cheese section is proudly sponsored by Bega and Cobargo Veterinary Hospitals.
