The new concept format welcomed 14 prolific local players for a blitzing knockout tournament for a $250 winner-takes-all prize.
Poso said the format was accommodating to veteran players and women.
“Gabby Beaumont and Sandra Bunce both made it to the quarter finals, showing the women can mix it with the men in the first to 10 point format,” Poso said.
Players race to 10 points, rather than playing full sets and a highlight of the night was two players reaching match point.
“There was also a double match point scenario when Don Goodridge held his nerve to beat Bega’s Mark Irvin 10-9.”
Two talented young juniors ended up meeting in the grand final on the night.
“Despite Trent (Little) playing some of his best ever tennis Paul (Warren) showed strong resolve, winning 10-5,” Poso said.
Poso urged spectators to join in the fun and asked for a gold coin donation as entry, with the proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Foundation.
Unfortunately, rain kept a number of fans at home, but Poso said the event still raised $300 for the charity.
Poso thanked all the volunteers who assisted with running the program on the night.
