Both the Bega-Angledale Bulls and the Tathra Sea Eagles will begin play well ahead of their respective opponents.
The Bulls are late in their first innings, but had the Pambula Bluedogs all out for just 76 runs last week.
Robbie Ringland had a well-controlled stint at the crease to score 50 runs, while Liam Cooper and Lachlan Sims added some steady runs to put the Bulls on top.
The Bulls will go in to play with two wickets remaining in the first innings, but are already on 175 runs.
It will be a mammoth task for the visiting Bluedogs outfit to finish off Bega’s innings and then run down a thumping total.
Rohan Stocker has been leading the way for the Bega-Angledale bowlers, but Braiden McIntosh and Cooper have also been showing excellent form.
Forecasts of late-week rain could see a slower pitch again, which favoured the Bulls outfit last week.
Over at Lawrence Park, the Sea Eagles were about to bowl against the Merimbula Knights after scoring 205 runs, when thunderstorms struck and cut play short.
Club president Rob Stevenson said he was pleased with the total, but expects a challenge from the Knights.
“We’re expecting a tough day,” Stevenson said.
“Merimbula are a pretty patient team who will sit there at the crease.”
Despite being happy with his squad’s total, Stevenson credited the Merimbula bowlers, who kept the Sea Eagles’ explosive batsmen quiet.
“They bowled a good area,” he said.
“Other than Cody [Hazelgrove-Danvers] everyone had big starts, but Merimbula never let us get on top.”
It will be a hunt for wickets for the Sea Eagles, who are chasing first innings points tomorrow.
“It is highly unlikely that anything will happen other than a first innings result,” Stevenson said.
“We will have to work hard with the ball and in the field to get those points.”
The Sea Eagles will return to play at Lawrence Park, Tathra, from 1pm tomorrow.
The Bulls will resume their game against the Bluedogs at George Griffin Oval, Bega, from 1pm.
