Administrators from PPB Advisory were appointed last week to review Homeart Pty Ltd, Copperart Pty Ltd and Copperart Holdings Pty Ltd.
However, Homeart stores will continues operating as usual as the administrators conduct an immediate review of the business.
Homeart (previously known as Copperart) was founded in Melbourne in 1979 and is one of Australia’s largest specialty retailers, selling a wide range of consumer goods including household items such as homewares, electrical appliances and furniture goods.
The business operates from 116 stores and has approximately 600 employees nationwide.
“Homeart is an instantly recognisable retailer that is well known and supported by the Australian public,” PPB Advisory partner Daniel Walley said.
“Our immediate priority is to conduct a review of the business, which will allow us to explore all possible options including a possible sale as a going concern.
“In the meantime, the business will continue to trade on a business as usual basis.
“We are working constructively with Homeart suppliers, business partners and its dedicated team of 600 staff to ensure we achieve the best possible outcome for the business.”
The first meeting of creditors is due to be held on Tuesday, February 3.
Details of the venue will be posted to the creditors section of the PPB Advisory website, www.ppbadvisory.com, once they have been confirmed.
