League stars Tom Hughes and Euan Aitken are the pride of the Merimbula-Pambula Bulldogs.
The duo are on the verge of playing in the NRL and both have been selected in the Auckland Nines competition.
Bulldogs vice-president Bernie Maher said he and the club were “proud beyond words”.
Maher said the duo had an impact with every member of the club.
“They were always a pleasure to coach, dedicated, hard-working, polite and enthusiastic.
“All the trade marks required to get them where they are now,”
Maher said the pair had extensive representative experience from Group 16 and always been exceptional players.
Hughes was named player of the match in the under 16s rep side and Group 16 player of the year.
Aitken was man of the match in the Country NSW v Country QLD match in 2011 and represented NSW in the under 20s State of Origin.
“Coming from a small area like Pambula-Merimbula and getting to where these two young men are now makes us so proud of all the work they have done,” Maher said.
“We wish the boys the best of luck on behalf of the club as well as the local community.”
Maher said he had no doubts the pair’s families were extremely proud and congratulated the duo.
