This was as 140 motorbikes taking part in the Great Race: Harleys v Indians were passing through, stopping for lunch at the town’s hotel.
The individual winner of the race was Indian rider Danny Guest of Melbourne, but the overall winning team were the Harleys.
However, Mr Guest said the race is more about mateship and getting all the riders together to go on a vintage bike road show.
“It was a great weekend and we had a lot of fun,” Mr Guest said.
“The Indians have won for the last two years, so it was a bit of a surprise for it to go to the Harleys.
“It’s just good to have a chance to get together and swap ideas.”
The race began and finished at The Station in Jindabyne, and the challenge is to travel the 600km course without breaking down!
The timed race takes the riders through such towns as Cooma, Perisher, Dalgety and of course, Candelo.
In his third year competing, Mr Guest won on his rare 1915 Indian Hedstrom, which incredibly was also the oldest bike to finish the race.
“It’s an unrestored bike, which means it is running as it was running 100 years ago,” he said.
“It’s not the most comfortable ride though!”
