When she started, Family Day Care in Bega was only two years old and was in the Old Bega Hospital building.

 The reason Ms Beasley wanted to join Family Day Care was because she wanted to be at home for her two-year-old twins.

She enjoyed it so much that she stayed on after the twins started school.

There had been a gap of some 15 years between the twins and their older sisters, and Ms Beasley has also had her grandchildren in her day care.

Her Family Day Care community gave her a farewell at Potoroo Palace recently with many of her Day Care family coming to pay tribute to their carer.

Her Family Day Care work colleagues also honoured her contribution at a dinner at the Merimbula Wharf Restaurant.

On Ms Beasley’s last day her children put on an entertainment program for her and during it Eloise Deighton sang a song she had written, “I Love Betty”.

Ms Beasley isn’t stopping work though.

She will be joining her daughter Fiona and son-in-law Michael Britten at the Sapphire Coast Linen Service, which just happens to be next door to Family Day Care in Peden St.

Ms Beasley said she just “loved the job”, which was why she stayed so long as a carer.
