All but two beaches in the Bega Valley Shire received the highest rating possible, with results showing less than 41 Enterococci colony forming units (CFU) per 100ml of water.
Even though Mogareeka Inlet and Tathra Beach returned a ‘Fair’ result, they are still suitable for swimming.
The threshold for water not suitable for swimming is more than 201 enterococci CFU/100ml.
This is a great comeback after the heavy rainfall received over the past two weeks and a great lead into the Christmas and New Year period.
Beachgoers can swim and play with confidence, knowing that the Sapphire Coast still offers some of the cleanest beaches in NSW.
