The controversial single - and its accompanying video clip - is an empowering, positive body-image protest song that rallies against social expectations and definitions of what constitutes an “acceptable” shape or size.
It also features nudity…plenty of nudity.
The clip drew upon the power of social media, with front-woman and band namesake Dallas Frasca putting out the call for participants to shed their clothes and inhibitions on camera, in celebration of the ideal of being comfortable and happy in one's own skin.
She received a massive response.
The video premiered on October 28 and went completely viral with over 10,000 views and 2800 shares over social media, before being restricted by YouTube - all in the first 24 hours!
"You will see the diversity in the people who believe in the message and are in the clip," Frasca said of the video.
"We all got our kit off for the cause and we hope this song will inspire people to be more aware of what they are reading and to feel beautiful the way you are."
The single is the first to be taken from the band's impending full-length, Love Army, which is due out early next year.
In February 2014, the band raised $22,000 via a successful crowdfunding initiative to help record Love Army.
Unfortunately, just prior to completing the record, they lost a band member due to family commitments.
Undeterred, they returned from touring and recruited King Of The North’s drummer, Danny Leo for the job.
The band spent weeks reworking the songs in their Melbourne HQ, before hitting Woodstock Studios to finish recording.
They’ve supported an impressive number of rock heavyweights in recent times, including Patti Smith, Earth, Wind and Fire, Aerosmith, Billy Joel and Van Halen, as well as receiving a tip of the infamous top hat from Guns N Roses’ Slash himself, “great vocals, riffs and groove”.
Now, after a remarkable year of collaborations with the likes of Ugly Kid Joe’s front man, Whitfield Crane and Sevendust’s guitarist, Sonny Mayo, Dallas Frasca are proud to announce the first single from their forthcoming album, Love Army.
To celebrate the release of You Are Beautiful, Dallas Frasca embarked on a national tour, with Wolumla’s gig – supported by Stayc Phelan – the second-last of a mammoth 17-date effort.
Doors open at the Wolumla Hotel on Saturday at 7pm.
Tickets cost $10 and will be available at the door.
