Texstyle showcases outstanding major textile projects from students across NSW who studied Textile and Design for their HSC in 2014.
Hannah’s piece was named among the prize winners and selected invitees from the Stage 5 Textile Art Challenge and will now take its place at Sydney’s Rosehill Racecourse in March.
Hannah’s teacher at BHS Ann Smith described the piece as a “hand-dyed, embellished, innovative design piece of eco-equipment” – or, as Hannah succinctly put it, “a sock-holder”.
“It’s pretty exciting [to have my piece selected for the exhibition], but I’m also disappointed I don’t get it back until March now – there are socks all over my floor!” Hannah said with a laugh.
Ms Smith said she knew just how special it was for Hannah to be selected as she took her Year 12 textile class to the exhibition in March.
“The quality of work is amazing,” Ms Smith said.
“Looking at what people can achieve, for Hannah’s work to be in among that is wonderful.”
Hannah said continuing with textiles through to HSC level “sounds cool”.
