This is because students from the school’s special education department are busy doing their final rehearsals for their end of year concert.
The theme this year is science fiction, with a mix of influences from worlds such as Star Wars and Star Trek.
This is the first year the performance will be opened up to the public, who have the chance to watch the show in the high school’s hall next week.
The first part involves three music acts, and in the second there will be a musical featuring characters including Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Chewbacca.
The musical had many elaborate props, including a life-sized R2-D2 and a space car with real lights.
There was also a re-enactment of the famous cantina scene from Star Wars: A New Hope – just with more dancing.
“It started six years ago with a single performance of dancing to Mamma Mia, and since then it’s gotten bigger and bigger each year,” special education teacher Don Green said.
The show is sponsored by Bega Woolworths, which during the year donates food to the special education department to make meals as a fundraiser.
The students prepare foods like soups and salads then sell them to teachers, the money raised from which goes towards costs of their concert like making props and costumes.
Woolworths Bega store manager Matt Jorgensen said Woolworths has donated food for two years, the reason being as they are “just trying to be an active contributor to the community and provide support, basically for things like this”.
The special education department’s end of year concert will be held on November 27 and 28 at the Bega High School hall from 11am, and admission is free.
