Both the 255ha Staplehurst and adjoining 141ha Mardon were sold prior to auction.
“Kameruka itself was passed in at auction for $8.75million with today an asking price of $9.25million,” marketing agents Meares & Associates representative Chris Meares said.
“Whilst there were a number of registrations at the sale the property failed to reach its reserve, however since the sale there has been an upsurge of interest with four parties expressing ongoing interest.”
One of the best known rural properties in eastern Australia, the Kameruka Estates encompass the flagship property of the estate, Kameruka, together with two of its original dairy farms, Staplehurst and Mardon.
It was established in the 1850s by Robert Tooth with a series of adjoining dairy farms supplying milk to the well-known Kameruka Cheese Factory, the remains of which still stand on Kameruka today.
