The event lived up to its name as anglers across the region were challenged by the weather conditions.
Organisers said it varied from “pleasant to quite horrific”.
Nevertheless, intrepid anglers withstood the torrential rain and gale force winds, which were occasionally interupted by magnificent flashes of lightning.
Despite the conditions a number of anglers took part and competed in a successful event.
The club congratulated junior angler Matt Rollason, 12, for taking out the Pier One Bar and Grill $300 prize for the biggest jewfish.
Matt’s haul was an impressive 71.7 centimetre fish, which was released.
Congratulations also go to Ian Neilson for winning both the largest bream (37.7cm) and also the largest dusky flathead (81.5cm).
Neilson was one of the big winners in the event with over $800 in cash and prizes from event sponsor Tackleworld Merimbula.
David Dulhunty was the runner-up winner of $150 cash and a set of fishing tackle for his largest tailor catch.
Morgan Wood won the prize for largest trevally.
Entrants thanked organiser Lindon Thompson for coordinating the competition.
Records from the event are provided to the Department of Primary Industries towards their studies on fish abundance.
