The club welcomed visitors from Cooma, Nowra, Bombala, Bermagui and across the border to Victoria.
The club had dry weather for the day, but fluctuating winds added an extra challenge for those on the range.
The program consisted of three events, the final round of the Fimac Engineering Handicap Shield, the 40-target Southern Zone mixed targets championship and a 40-target double barrel event.
The double barrel was the first event on the cards and Ray Welch had his eye in to miss just one target.
After a further six targets, Chris Davis emerged from the shoot-off with second place on 44/46.
Steve McIntyre and Bert Deacon took an extra five targets to sort out A grade, with McIntyre winning 40/45 to Deacon’s 39/45.
Craig Field started his day with a 38/40 to win B grade from veteran, Doug Blewitt on 36/40.
Nowra visitor Bill Morsch celebrated with his first trophy in the sport by winning C Grade 35/40.
Mick Diss took second place with 34/40.
Next was the final round of the Fimac Engineering Handicap Shield, sponsored by club president Shane Platts.
Shooters had taken stock of the wind and produced some excellent results during the second round.
B grader Dick McInnes and A grader Steve McIntyre took an additional eight targets before McInnes emerged winner with a score of 32/33, with McIntyre on 31/33 in second.
Doug Blewitt finished third with a score of 27/29.
This round concludes the Fimac for 2014, with final presentation being held at the December Christmas shoot.
The final event of the day was the Sothern Zone mixed targets championship.
Shooters faced 10 double barrel, 10 single, 10 point-score and finished off with five pairs of double rise.
The championship sash and prize was won with some excellent shooting by B grader Craig Field.
Field topped the board with a score of 56/60.
AA grade went to Ray Welch with a score of 55/60, closely followed by Phil Body with 54/60.
Steve McIntyre and Bert Deacon repeated their efforts from event one.
McIntyre again pipped the win for A grade with a score of 55/60 and Deacon second with 53/60.
John Walker, using John Seide’s gun after his own died, took B grade with a score of 53/60.
Dick McInnes was runner-up just one target behind on 52/60.
Meanwhile, Brian Moffitt collected 44/60 to take out C grade from Mick Diss on 41/60.
Craig Field showed how good his form was for the day by winning High Gun with a score of 116/125, two targets ahead of his nearest rival.
George Adamopoulos won the meat tray for the shoot raffle and let the money grow for next time.
Platts thanked everone for their help in making the event a succesful day.
The next shoot is the club’s annual Christmas shoot with a special lunch spread and presentations.
Members will shoot for turkeys, hams and other items on December 7.
Practice starts as usual at 9am with competition beginning at 10am.
