Luckily, the clouds staved off and the 100-target shoot got underway unhindered.
The course was set by Willy White and a happy crew.
The range comprised seven shooting stations with a good mix of targets that favoured the lower grades.
Top shooters were put to task and found it hard-going to join the winners list.
However, John Hosking from Quirindi and local shooters Mark Raabe and Phil Craig were the exceptions in A grade.
The club welcomed other visitors from Cooma and the Illawarra.
Bermagui also welcomed two new members and their wives for the day.
The day’s high gun was won by Mat Richardson from C grade, with a score of 117 that was closely followed by Michelle Craig and Grace Gschwend in the ladies with 116.
Mark Raabe topped A grade with 99 on a count-back from John Hosking with Phil Craig claiming third on 96.
Paul Bone topped B grade with 113 over Barry Dunn and Zip Summerell.
Mic Diss took a win in C grade with 112, while John Gray and John Peterson weren’t far off the hunt.
Each month Bennys Butchery donates a meat tray as a “consolation prize” to the shooter unlucky to not hit enough targets for the club’s jackpot.
However, this month, Gavin Moulding pulverised the required eight targets to walk away $500 richer.
Members joked that it was “quite a compensation for his grading handicap”.
The meat tray was then raffled off.
The club’s next shoot will be a novelty Christmas shoot including the George Digweed Challenge with proceeds going to the Leukaemia Foundation.
The day will run on November 22 from 10am.
