Committee members are very pleased a dozer is now on site leveling the field in order to prepare the ground for fertilisation and seed sowing.
Although the project began as a “sporting complex”, the venue is now to be known as a “passive recreation area”, Evans Park sporting complex committee president Peter Davis said on Wednesday.
“It’s nice for members of the community to see that things are finally happening here,” Mr Davis said.
“We have been waiting quite a while for work to commence.
“It will be a place where kids can come and kick a footy or you can walk the dog.”
Once the recreation area is ready there are plans to install fences and play equipment when funding is secured through grant money or fundraising events.
