The digital royal wave was sent from the verified @BritishMonarchy account during the opening of the Information Age exhibit at London's Science Museum.
It is a pleasure to open the Information Age exhibition today at the
@ScienceMuseum and I hope people will enjoy visiting. Elizabeth R. — BritishMonarchy (@BritishMonarchy)

The account has 809,000 followers and the Queen's crowning post was retweeted 31,000 times.
Unfortunately for the Queen, it appears the first response she received was this one:
@BritishMonarchy Welcome to twitter! Abdicate. — Spooky Alex Hern (@alexhern) October 24, 2014
Others were kinder.
.@BritishMonarchy Please follow me, Your Majesty. — Remarkable (@RemIsBuzzin) October 24, 2014
@BritishMonarchy @sciencemuseum What a lovely lady u are your majesty, so pleased to be able to follow a wonderful Twitter page. — Chris Grigg (@Chris_Grigg1987) October 24, 2014
The @BritishMonarchy account usually posts official updates on the activities of the royal family and the Queen has never tweeted from it before.
It's not the first time the Queen has led the way for the royal family when it comes to technology.
The Queen made her first live Christmas broadcast in 1957 and she was also the first monarch to send an email in 1976.
Her Twitter debut comes about five months after her grandson Harry posted his first official tweet to promote an international sporting competition for wounded soldiers.
Hope everyone will get behind

But some say there's a royal mystery at the heart of the Queen's foray into Twitter as the message appeared to have been typed ahead of time and was sent using a Twitter for iPhone application, even though the video shows a tablet device being used.
"We're not going to go into the details," a Buckingham Palace spokesman told news agency AP.
There is quite an art to making your debut on social media. Here is how some other well known figures entered the Twittersphere:
