Named in the initial 22-woman Australian Jillaroos squad, Apps was still on the roster in the final 18-woman list released by the NRL this week.
Apps said she had been “flat out” in her efforts to impress the selectors.
“I have been training every day since the NSW game so I’ve given all I’ve got,” Apps said.
Earlier saying she wanted to claim a spot in the run-on squad, she is now happy to just be included in the final 18.
“If I don’t make the run-on side I won’t be disappointed as I have made the squad,” she said.
Don’t let that fool you, Apps has every intent on being on the field come kick-off time.
“I hope I’ve impressed in camp last weekend and I will still be working hard when we go in to camp,” she said.
Playing positions are yet to be announced so the hard-running Bega girl has plenty of opportunities.
With all the options open, Apps has been preparing for every challenge.
“I’ve been doing a bit of everything,” she said.
“I have been at United Fitness Studios every day doing strength training and also been doing agility, short sprints and interval training.”
The squad will go to their final training camp on November 3.
Apps will be joined by three of her Helensburgh Tigers team-mates in the squad, which has helped her integrate to the squad.
“In a way it does ease the transition and knowing how they play,” she said.
“But in saying that, all the girls were so welcoming and we all just worked together as we all share the same passion.”
The Jillaroos will meet their New Zealand counterparts, the Kiwi Ferns, at WIN Stadium, Wollongong, on November 9.
As a die-hard Parramatta fan, Apps also shared her thoughts on Jarryd Hayne’s transition to NFL.
“I think good on him, if he wants to give it a go then go for it.”
Similar moves have worked against other NRL stars like Benji Marshall, but Apps said Hayne is talented enough so he could find a home in the NRL again.
“He can always come back, I hope he does come back, but time will tell,” she said.
