No lessons learnt from forays into Vietnam, Iraq or Afghanistan, all quagmires, all entered into without overwhelming public support or indeed consultation.
No point in blame shifting by saying as we so often do “all the way with the USA” and so on.
We are a sovereign country, albeit with a British Sovereign.
We can find the money to send warplanes to kill, to refuel our own and allies’ planes, to send SAS troops to Iraq.
Yet we cannot find money to fight a noble fight against a deadly foe in Ebola.
No, not a single plane, no troops or medicos.
Oh no, all too logistically difficult.
Have we ever sent a single soldier or spent a dollar in African countries such as The Congo or Sudan?
Oh no.
Could it possibly be that they are black or that there is no oil?
It could not be because we are against becoming involved in other countries civil wars.
Our political leaders of all persuasions are spineless toadies and sycophantic coat tuggers.
We elect them so share in their ignoble characteristics.
