McHappy Day is an annual national event that aims to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities Australia.
This year the national target was $3million and Bega certainly put in a good effort by raising $3820.
Community relations representative for Bega and Merimbula McDonald’s Penny Malone said it was an “amazing day”.
“All the kids had a great time, we had a lot of smiling faces,” she said.
“We raised $3820 thanks to community generosity.”
Ms Malone thanked Bega Cheese for its $500 donation and members of the Bega Bombers and Merimbula Diggers Aussie rules teams for their support.
Team members and supporters were part of an attempt at a Guinness Book of Records entry for the most men’s haircuts performed in an hour.
“The hairdressers from Value Cutz and Colour were certainly busy, but unfortunately we didn’t make the record, although everyone had a lot of fun,” Ms Malone said.
The record attempt was emceed by Bega Valley Shire Councillor Tony Allen.
The theme for the day was superheroes and characters, and staff had a ball dressing up.
Ms Malone also thanked NSW Fire and Rescue as well as Pambula Motorfest organisers for supplying vehicles, which were a hit with the children.
