The competition launches for its third year at Club Sapphire, Merimbula, on Sunday morning.
Three rounds will play with spectators more than welcome.
Local organiser Michael Wilks said nine teams were in last year’s event, but numbers have jumped to 14 squads this time around.
“Bega, Merimbula and Tura Beach are all entering an extra team along with Bombala, who will make their debut in this year’s event,” Wilks said.
After winning the inagural event, Bega’s club champion Howard Blacker said he was confident the squads would be around come the finals.
The competition varies from pennant and regular club events.
“The event is played over an exciting format of singles, pairs and triples, with the combined scores contributing to the overall result,” Wilks said.
“The super sixes format has bought a new aspect to the sport of bowls here on the Far South Coast since its introduction two years ago.”
Wilks said the Bega outfit had benefitted from some strong recruiting campaigns and is now a “real force to be reckoned with” on the local bowling scene.
However, last year’s champions from Tathra will still be a threat.
“The absence of Anthony McKenna will leave a slight concern, but the Tathra squad does have a knack of finding new talent when it’s required.”
