Dickinson Oval and the Bermagui golf course were turned into wide lakes, and about 225mm was measured to have fallen at the golf course by Wednesday morning.
Chris Hearn from the Bermagui Country Club Pro Shop said the flooding was due to a combination of dry ground and the tide coming in, which meant the water had nowhere to go.
However, when he got to work on Wednesday the water had gone.
“Once the tide goes out the water just disappears,” Mr Hearn said.
“We will probably have the golf carts out tomorrow [Thursday].”
The couple of remaining puddles didn’t put off one keen golfer from Narooma who came down for some holes, and Mr Hearn expected them to evaporate soon.
The back of the pro shop had flooded, but Mr Hearn said it wasn’t damaging, and it was the fifth time in 15 years he had seen it happen.
On Wednesday, Bermagui Foodworks staffer Jack Seymour confirmed some water had gotten into the supermarket during the rains.
“There was a little bit of a flood in the shop yesterday, but we opened by 11,” he said.
There was no damage caused by the water and “everything was pretty much fine” he said.
While there were reports of water on the Bermagui Public School oval, principal Neil Rutherford said on Wednesday that it was nothing significant.
“It always happens to us,” he said.
“We’ve seen worse than that, it’s just a low-lying area and the kids are back playing on it today.”
He said no damage was caused and it cleared quickly.
Along the Bermagui-Tathra Rd the Wapengo Bridge had been closed on Tuesday due to the water flowing over it, but as of Wednesday it was open again.
