Bemboka Pool was forced to close early last season after a serious chemical leak was discovered in the main pool in January 2014.
After assuring the community the pool would reopen, Bega Valley Shire Council worked with newly formed group Friends of Bemboka Pool (FOBP) to get the amenities ready while tradespeople worked on the infrastructure.
FOBP president Helmut Eder said it’s been good building a positive relationship with council and working towards the reopening.
“Friends of Bemboka Pool would like to thank Bega Valley Shire Council, and specifically Simon Schweitzer (BVSC community services group manager) and Leanne Webb (BVSC aquatic facilities coordinator) for their hard work in bringing this project to fruition – and we will do our best to show council how much we love our pool in the coming months,” he said.
“I was there repainting benches over the weekend and it was just fantastic to see water in the pool again!”
The pool is reopening with new times that balance peak community usage hours with the council’s budget for pool operation throughout the shire.
Bemboka Pool will be open 2-6pm seven days a week and switch to 10am to 6pm for the month of January.
