Mane Collective director James Lepre’s ad “SuperCHARGED” has reached the top 10 in the Supercheap Auto Big Break Video Competition.
Out of 380 entrants, Mane Collective is the only South Coast based company to make that level.
“[We require] local support to take out this comp which would hold endless opportunities for our production company as the TVC will be aired during this years Bathurst 1000,” Mr Lepre said.
There is a $20,000 prize pool for the competition, and Mr Lepre said it would “open up doors” for his company, however he can’t do it alone as the winning ad will be chosen by number of votes by the public.
For his ad, his team searched car yards and mechanic shops for props to use for a battle scene inspired by such movies as 300 and Braveheart.
“We shot the commercial in about four hours and it was all friends and family helping out,” he said.
Ms Lepre enjoyed his time spent in the Bega Valley, and still retains a connection with the area.
“During my time working out of [the] Merimbula News Weekly office, I gained a lot of experience in sales and got the confidence to start my own video production company in November 2012,” he said.
“We are based in Wollongong but still working in the Bega Valley producing commercials.”
This Bega work includes filming a new commercial for Sapphire Marketplace on Monday.
The Big Break Competition closes on Sunday, and you can view “SuperCHARGED” as well as other entries and cast your vote by clicking here.
