UOW Bega held a celebration morning tea to not only recognise the awardees, but to thank the many community sponsors of the university.
“We are very lucky to have so many supportive community organisations in the Bega Valley,” UOW Bega manager Samantha Avitaia said.
“Our students are very grateful to have the support of their community in undertaking their studies.”
Academic awards included Dean’s Merit List placements for students who achieved grades in the top five per cent of their subject, and First in Subject awards for achievement of first place within subjects across the entire university.
“Bega students are coming first in subjects of up to 400 students across the state,” coordinator of education programs Dr Sue Duchesne said.
“That we have so many students achieving at such a high level is a testament to our students, our academic and support staff and our community.”
Rosemary Liddall gave thanks on behalf of all the students.
“We love studying here and thanks to everyone here and the community sponsors for helping us to stay here, it’s a great place to live and a great place to study,” she said.
