With the Cleanaway $1000 grand prize of up for grabs and a $250 prize from long time supporter RTG in Eden, all creative people are invited to participate.
TRASHformation is a competition and ‘pop up’ exhibition that takes place in Eden during the November Eden Whale Festival.
“Last year we had over 1000 people come through the exhibition that shares space with the annual Artists who Wood exhibition,” TRASHformation organiser Megan Luhrs said.
“TRASHformation is a fantastic display of creativity from preschool aged children to adults who have fine tuned their recycled craft.”
Mr Luhrs said there is always something surprising at TRASHformation, such as the recycled foam shark that won the major Cleanaway prize last year.
“It was terrific to see the look on a Year 8 students face when he was announced as the winner of $1000,” she said.
South East Arts and Bega Valley Shire Council Waste department have introduced a new prize for a large outdoor sculpture.
One school will be awarded the $500 prize for a sculpture depicting a marine animal made out of recycled materials.
“This is a creative challenge for both primary and secondary schools to engage in,” Ms Luhrs said.
The winning sculpture will be installed at the entrance of one of the BVSC Waste and Recycling depots.
Anyone of any age in the South East region is eligible to enter, as well as people in Mallacoota.
