A review is set to be undertaken by the NSW Ombudsman into the NSW Government’s reform of Specialist Homelessness Services (SHS), called Going Home Staying Home (GHSH).

The tender process outcome of GHSH has led to community concern across NSW with disruption to many specialist domestic violence services and women’s support programs due to consolidation within programs allocated to larger service providers. It has seen 370 former separate services, managed by 250 different organisations reshaped into 149 large service packages that are led by 70 organisations.
Locally it has meant the transfer of the Bega Women’s Refuge from South East Women’s and Children’s Services to tender winner Mission Australia.
“The NSW Ombudsman has agreed to provide impartial and independent oversight of the GHSH process to date,” Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service NSW executive officer Helen Brereton said.
“The Ombudsman has indicated feedback from interested individuals and organisations on the implementation of the GHSH reform process to-date is welcome.”
