The non-partisan march aims to highlight what organisers say are the "human cost of the current Federal Government's policies and its 2014 budget".
The rally will take place on August 30 at noon, meeting at the Bega War Memorial before ending at Littleton Gardens, where the community will have a chance to hear from local groups and individuals about how the budget cuts are directly affecting their services and, in turn, people in the area.
There will be speakers from sectors including health, environment, social justice, Bega Valley Rural Australians for Refugees as well as representatives from nurses and TAFE, and opening for the speakers will be Dr Mike Kelly.
March Australia Bega Valley organiser Anna Reilly said they are hoping to also have music in Littleton Gardens as part of the rally.
“For me it’s about social justice, human rights and equality of opportunity in the community,” Ms Reilly said.
March in Bega supporter Elizabeth Blackmore said the march was calling for a better government for Australia.
“It’s about protesting against the impact of general government policies on the vulnerable in our community,” she said.
March in Bega Valley organisers are out fundraising for public liability, as Ms Reilly had to personally arrange for insurance payment.
Collection boxes will be left in businesses around town and a bucket will be passed around on the day of the rally.
The organisers have made March in Bega badges to wear, which will also be sold for a gold coin.
After the rally, any excess money left over from the fundraising will be given to a local needy organisation.
The march is part of a nationwide event taking place over the weekend of August 30-31 organised by March Australia, protesting decisions and policies made by the present Federal Government.
