On Thursday, A St Georges Basin couple was travelling through the Bega Valley on their way to Gippsland for the weekend.
They pulled into Millingandi Rd, near where the chlorinator is just south of Potoroo Palace to let their dogs have a stretch.
“When we were ready to go, our black and white Jack Russell did not come over [when we called],” Gill said.
“All the dogs were just fossicking around in the edge of the bush within our sight.
“We had our head torches on and proceeded to search for him with no success.
“We spent over an hour extending the search into the trees, but no sound and no sign of him.”
Gill said Buddy is 16 years old and has a heart condition that requires medication.
“It is baffling to us that he has just disappeared,” she said.
“We set up our tent for the night and searched for some time again in the morning with still no sign of him, extending the search even further down into the gully.
“We went to Potoroo Palace and spoke to the staff there, approached all the houses in the area, leaving our details if no-one was at home and have also spoken with the Bega Valley ranger and National Parks office.
“We eventually had to leave as we needed to be at a family gathering in Gippsland.”
They also stopped in the same spot upon their return on Sunday and searched again for some time in the rain, to no avail.
