Bega’s Teleesha Heyhorn was one of three athletes who attended a workshop at University of Canberra introducing the importance of long term athlete development, delivered by Professor Richard Telford.
The group then transferred to the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) to participate in physiological testing and movement screenings conducted by the academy’s athlete performance specialist Courtney Porter.
Porter was assisted by SERAS student interns Vanessa Gaynor and Katrina Mason from the University of Canberra.
Athletes were also prescribed their eight-week strength and conditioning programs to assist with their physical development.
A gymnastics session delivered by Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) coach Olga Karelina followed, focusing on general balance and flexibility skills, which the athletes will be able to transfer to their specific disciplines.
