Late Tuesday afternoon, police were stopping residents of Valley High units, Merimbula, after the grim discovery of the bodies of a man, a woman and a dog.
Police from Far South Coast Local Area Command were called to the home at Merimbula about noon on Tuesday, responding to concerns for the welfare of the couple who had not been seen for some days.
Police entered the home and found the bodies of an 89-year-old woman and a 90-year-old man inside.
The body of the couple's dog was also found.
In a statement to Fairfax Regional Media, a NSW police media spokeswoman said: “Police are at a home in Valley High, Sapphire Coast Drive following the discovery of two bodies.
“Emergency services were called to the unit just before midday after concerns for the elderly couple.”
“The home will be forensically examined to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths,” the spokeswoman said.
At this time, there is no evidence the deaths are suspicious.
However, police will be conducting an investigation as per protocol.
