Tathra Public School’s Aboriginal Education Walk Signs will direct visitors from the bush tucker gardens at the school to the burial grounds at the Tathra War Memorial garden, before walking to the headland then finishing back at the school.
On Monday, the last signs were erected at the four locations by Bega Valley Shire Council workers to direct walkers.
Acting assistant principal and Aboriginal education coordinator at Tathra School Margaret Taylor said part of the school’s 2014 management plan is to focus on Indigenous education.
This started with the launch of an Indigenous language book last year, and continues with the signage and production of a Community Aboriginal Education Walk Flyer to work in conjunction with the new path.
Also, cards painted by local Indigenous artists and children from Tathra School will be sold through the school as a fundraiser for further resources.
The walk will be open to the community.
