Councillors will be asked to accept modifications to the quarry at Ridge Rd, Coolagolite.
The modifications are increasing the volume of extracted material from 10,000sqm to 17,000sqm per year, extending the approved crushing days from 20 to 40 per year and replacing existing approved plans.
Council staff said an increase in haulage days would not mean an increase in daily truck movements, as there are a maximum number of trucks that can be loaded per day.
The Sapphire Coast Turf Club planning proposal will again be discussed, with council staff recommending councillors accept the amendments.
These amendments include rezoning the racecourse, reducing a strip of land on the south-west corner next the Sapphire Coast Drive to a width of 60 metres for a wildlife corridor, while the extra space will allow for developments such as camping facilities or car parking.
The NSW Office of Environment and Heritage stated this wildlife corridor has enough space for animals such as the yellow bellied glider to cross sides of the racecourse to more vegetation without being spooked by traffic.
Meanwhile, returned tenders for the construction of a replacement pavilion at Dickinson Oval, Bermagui, were well over council’s budget of $402,000.
Councillors are being asked to either allocate additional funding, or take on a contractor with the risk it will take additional time, be at the detriment of other sporting projects and still go over budget.
It will also be recommended draft CBD masterplans for Merimbula, Bega and Bermagui become the subject of a councillor workshop, and following this the plans put on public exhibition.
A late report on the Hotel Australasia Land and Environment Court appeal will be submitted, but was unavailable at time of printing.
