Five-year-old Olivia Stroud, a pupil at St Patrick's School in Bega, was selected as the winning entry with her apt suggestion of "Doc" for the huge tower crane on the site.
Runners-up Preethi Benjamin and Cleo Stylianou were also invited along and all three were presented with shiny silver personalised hardhats and fluoro vests.
Olivia was also presented with a model replica of Doc as a trophy, as everyone looked up to see the new name emblazoned in big letters on the largest crane to ever be used in Bega.
The guests were then taken on a tour of the construction site by project manager Allan Young and Bega Valley Health Service project change manager Kerry Abramowski.
They were accompanied by Southern NSW Local Health District Volunteer of the Year Beryl Harris, who was ecstatic to see the hospital coming to fruition.
