The Sydney Comedy Festival has hand-picked the funniest and freshest acts of Sydney’s biggest annual comedy event and squeezed them into one hilarious night of world-class comedy.
Highlights from the Showcase will include the low-fi com-rock superstars Smart Casual, the fast-paced humour of Cam Knight, the rocket-fuelled stage presence of Nikki Britton, Luke Heggie’s dry, deadpan comedy, writer for Triple M Brisbane Sam Campbell, and stand up trouper Greg Sullivan.
Guiding you through this killer line-up will be host Daniel Townes, a hilarious comic who is guaranteed to keep the jokes firing throughout the night.
With his laidback style of stand-up, Townes has won over audiences worldwide.
As well as being a regular at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Adelaide Fringe Festival and the Sydney Comedy Festival, Townes has also performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the prestigious invite-only Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, the latter kudos aspired to by the whole industry.
Heggie is a Sydney-based comedian, munitions expert, metal detecting enthusiast, and all round top bloke.
He is an efficient comic; no ostentation, no smoke and mirrors, visual, physical and verbal understatement ensue, followed by much laughter of course.
Campbell is a beacon of success and prosperity for everybody.
Since being crowned the Queensland champion of the 2011 RAW Comedy competition he has gone from strength to strength performing in comedy rooms all over Australia.
In addition to stand-up he is one part of the sketch group Skills in Time, with over a million YouTube views.
The showcase will be at Club Sapphire, Merimbula on August 1 from 8.30pm, and tickets are $30.
The BDN is offering one double pass to this night of fun - see Friday's paper for an entry form.
