The first grade Devils returned after three weeks off and were keen to return in the Far South Coast Football Association competition.
Pambula had mixed results earlier this season, with their last clash against the Devils resulting in a 9-2 thrashing.
The opening exchanges of the match were played out evenly as both sides shared possession and were able to settle into their respective game plans.
Both sides knew the opening goal would prove crucial in determining the final result and it was the Devils who struck first through Ross Jones in the 17th minute.
He was able to volley home a precise shot from some poor Pambula defence that failed to clear a Bega cross out wide.
Then a flurry of chances presented themselves to the Devils, including a penalty kick for a handball.
Unfortunately the shot from Jordan Stafford pushed wide.
However, Stafford took no less than a minute in redeeming himself as he set up Bega’s second goal.
He kicked a pin point accurate pass that found Jones in open space, who was once again able find the back of the net with a quality shot.
The Devils had control at 2-0 by half-time.
Play was not a minute old when a misdirected cross from Alec Caragher found the net.
The ball slipped through the keepers gloves and between his legs, where he could do nothing, but watch it roll in.
Shortly after it was Jones providing the assist for Stafford to land a goal and Bega jumped ahead 4-0.
In the following minutes, Pambula did not switch off and were able to go on the offensive for two rapid-fire goals.
Stafford halted the Pambula momentum when another cross bested the Penguins goalie for Bega to lead 5-3.
This weekend’s clash against Tathra will all but decide the minor premiership in the first grade.
Meanwhile, the women had a solid day out to secure a 3-0 win over the Wolumla Tigresses.
Amanda Stevenson provided an excellent passing game up front for the Devils that saw the first goal just 10 minutes in to play.
Tigress midfielders Caitlin Johnson and Kirsty McPaul worked hard to push play up to striker Sam Johnson, but opportunities were limited.
Bega scored a second goal in the first half when a lobbed kick sailed just to the fingertips of the Wolumla goalie, but fell inside the net.
Bega was able to score a third goal, while the Tigresses’ few chances to score were shut down quickly as defenders closed in on the Wolumla strikers.
