Tahlia made selection for the World Titles to be held in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, but financial difficulties meant the family would not be able to send her.
Article in the Magnet, News Weekly and BDN on urged locals to support the family, and the community did not disappoint.
“Tahlia flies out this Friday to compete in the UCI World BMX Championships in Rotterdam,” proud mum Minna said.
Minna said the support for her daughter reaching the championships had been “humbling”.
Tahlia, 15, was selected to compete at the championships after winning the under 16s Australian Champion-ship in Shepparton.
Tahlia, who has Olympic aspirations has her bikes and gear covered by her major sponsor Cyclecraft, but a number of local donations made the trip possible.
“We want to make special mention to Badewitz Cabinetry Pambula who came on board assisting to sponsor her trip and make her dream come true,” Minna said.
“And thank you so much to the others that also contributed.
“It’s very humbling to see the generosity from people we’ve never met.”
A number of local businesses, families and individuals reached out to the family and Minna was delighted to announce the family had raised enough for Tahlia to attend the event.
“We’ve reached our target with fundraising, so now it is all up to Tahlia to get over there and bring us all a World Plate,” she said.
