She celebrated with a party in Bega Coles attended by workmates and family, where she has served for 45 years.
At the age of 15, Ms Teer began her career at the Coles supermarket in Carp St with her two sisters, working across the homeware, toiletries and underwear departments in the era of Coles’ variety stores.
She has experienced most areas of the market, working across the apparel and garden sections in previous years.
Now Ms Teer, 75, works in the grocery department.
She said computers had completely changed the way the store operated.
“Back when I first started working at Coles in 1958 we didn’t have computers so the till service was managed manually and we had to write everything down for our customers,” Ms Teer said.
“At the end of each month we would have to count every single item in the store and work out exactly what we had sold that month and what needed to be ordered”.
Ms Teer said one of the best parts of working at Coles is the people she meets, and she enjoys being able to help them.
“The team members and customers are brilliant here at Coles Bega and we are given increased responsibility when we’re in charge of our own departments,” she said.
“That is what has kept me here for so long.”
Coles store manager Amanda Wright said Ms Teer was an integral part of the Coles team.
“She’s amazing at her age to be working the way she does, with a smile on her face each day,” Ms Wright said.
“She’s just great to work with.”
