Initiated by the Mayor of London in 2006, this biennial event is the world’s biggest celebration of all types of dance.
This year saw Australia take a leading role as Sydney Dance Company’s artistic director Rafael Bonachela choreographed a new large-scale dance routine that was performed by thousands in Sydney, London, Glasgow…and Bega.
Fling Physical Theatre and South East Arts partnered with Ausdance NSW to host a Big Dance event in Bega on Sunday.
While thousands performed the choreographed dance in Sydney earlier on Sunday morning, in a simultaneous dance with those in London and Glasgow, Bega's performance was filmed by Gooseboy Productions.
The footage will be edited and sent to Ausdance NSW to be incorporated with the dances from around the globe.
