THERE was a curious lunchtime sight in Bega on Wednesday as the Glebe Lagoon's grey-headed flying fox colony got spooked by nearby lawn mowing and took to they sky.

Several curious passers-by stopped to take in the sight, including BDN editor Ben Smyth, who captured the below snippet of video.
The Glebe Lagoon colony was recently estimated as having 18,000 bats, with regular counts held throughout the year.
