Wilson was named the Australian National Champion Gentleman Rider for over 17s.
Wilson, 21, was part of an extremely difficult class, but ultimately topped the field to claim the title.
In March, Wilson also advanced an age category at the Saddle Horse and Riding Grand National Championships in March.
Riding Shakira LP, Wilson said his horse “never let him down” to claim a top-10 finish.
Meanwhile, little sister Tayla Wilson, scored a top-10 finish in the 12-15 years age group.
The win capped off a very successful 18 months for Wilson since the purchase of Shakira.
Wilson’s family said the mare is an imported Hanovarian warmblood who has a pedigree equal to the best in the world.
“She was originally brought out to Australia in 2010 to be a broodmare,” Sharon Wilson said.
“The stud believed they should train her first and gave her 12 months education doing dressage under the close eye of one of Australia’s finest dressage riders.”
After a short, but successful career in dressage Shakira was retired to become a broodmare and produced three foals before being offered for sale.
“She now shows her lovely temperament and presence in the show ring,” Sharon said.
Since pairing with Shakira, Wilson’s career has hit new heights with qualifications and invites to some of Australia’s most prestigious events.
Two large shows on the calendar for the duo this year are the ACT Hack Championships and Melbourne Royal.
