FORMER Bega Rooster Dale Finucane is advancing his rugby league career.
The Cantberbury Bulldogs NRL player has been selected to the interchange bench for the NSW Country side in the upcoming Country v City Origin clash in Dubbo.
Finucane has been impressing selectors with his continued solid form at the Bulldogs and will get the chance to run on in front of State of Origin selectors in Dubbo on Sunday.
The squad, coached by NSW great Trent Barrett, assembles in Sydney today before heading to Dubbo for training.
Barrett said he is excited with five first time Country reps, including Finucane, in the line-up.
“This is a great week for Rugby League in the Country, and I can’t wait to see a packed crowd at Caltex Park,” Barrett said.
Finucane will be joined in the line-up by Bulldogs team-mates Aiden Tolman and Josh Jackson.
Meanwhile the rest of the squad is a star-studded line-up including NRL heavy-hitters Josh Dugan and Jamal Idris.
Organisers said players from both sides would be hoping to impress their junior clubs and there is no doubt the Roosters will be cheering for Finucane when he takes the field.
Selectors will be out in full force for Origin 1 on May 28.
Tickets for the AAMI Country v City Origin are still available at Ticketek or through Dubbo RSL on 6882 4411.
