The club formed a sponsorship agreement with SERAS for 2014.
The hockey program includes three locals - Brooke Bragg, Daniel Smith and Turi Hides.
“It’s great to have the Workers Club as a sponsor for this new program and show support for local athletes as well as athletes from the far south coast,” SERAS executive director Garry Lane said.
“Goulburn Hockey has also been supportive of the program and we hope to build on its success for next year.”
The seven scholarship holders took part in a training day on Sunday to enhance core skills.
A sprint training session was conducted by athletics coach Marina Wenbar, who concentrated on improving their speed off the mark and acceleration.
Two skills sessions were then delivered by internationally qualified hockey coach, Brent Deans, with the assistance of hockey coaching consultant, Robert Apps.
These sessions were designed to build on fundamentals that were introduced in the February training camp with a dedicated goal keeping component.
The squad will come together for a final training day on Sunday to undergo their second round of physiological testing, review their strength and conditioning programs, and participate in a follow-up gymnastics session focusing on balance and use of body weight.
