Pink frocks for oncology support

IT’S TIME to frock up and put your dancing shoes on for the Pink and Black Cocktail Party.

The Pink and Black event on March 22 is a fantastic night of dancing, delicious finger food and cocktails in aid of Bega’s Oncology Unit and the Pinc Support Group.

Tickets are only $45, and as they are not available at the door the time to purchase one is now.

“It’s fundraising for a serious cause, but the idea is to have good time and a bit of a laugh,” organiser Glenn Cotter said.

“We’ve got Angus Rump and the Chips playing and you can’t help but have a dance once they get started!

“We want to see everyone dress up, break out the pink and black and really light up Oaklands."

Mr Cotter said the annual party at Oaklands in Pambula is one of two big fundraising events held in benefit of Bega Oncology, the other being the popular Pambula Bike Show.

“The money we raise stays local, it’s to benefit all those going through cancer treatment.

“Although we are also fundraising for the Pinc Support Group, this isn’t just about breast cancer.

“Bega Oncology is there to get all cancer patients through their treatment.”

In addition to live music, the event features bumper raffles and lucky door prizes.

Mr Cotter said many businesses had supported the event including Oaklands, Rex Airlines, Flight Centre, Seahorse Inn, Seaspray Inn, Merimbula Jewellers, Touch of Pink, Brief Affair and others are still coming on board.

Rex Airlines is generously flying down the night’s guest speaker, a cancer survivor named Sarah.

“Sarah has been chosen as one of the patients to be featured in an upcoming Pink Ribbon campaign,” Mr Cotter said.

“Her story is pretty touching - she’s a single mum with two kids who was diagnosed with cervical cancer.

“She’s done it tough for a while, but she’s coming through it and I think her story will be really inspirational to others.”

Also speaking will be Michelle Delle Vergin who will be unofficially launching her new book Sapphire.

“There are some serious elements to the night, but Michelle will keep it light-hearted.

“So grab your partner, friends and workmates and come along and party!”

Tickets are $45, and available by phoning Glenn Cotter on 0402 474 514, emailing pinkandblackpambula@gmail.com or checking out the event’s Facebook page 2014 Pink and Black Cocktail Party.
