A MAN is due to appear in court on Monday charged after allegedly breaking into a home in Bega and threatening the occupant with a star picket.

Police were called to a home in Union St shortly before 2.30am on Sunday, responding to reports of a person being on the premises.
When police arrived, a man allegedly threatened them with a metal star picket on two occasions before police deployed a Taser and arrested him.
A knife was seized when the man was searched before he was taken to Bega Police Station where he was charged with:
• Aggravated break, enter and steal, and commit serious indictable offence;
• Assault police (two counts);
• Armed with intent; and,
• Custody of a knife in a public place.
He was refused bail to appear at the Batemans Bay Local Court on Monday.
