MORE than 150 people attended Sunday's Australia Day ceremony in Cobargo.
It was a particularly special day for Graham Parr, Carmel Dufty and Ryan Salway, who were recognised for their dedication to the Cobargo community.
Mr Parr and Ms Dufty shared the Cobargo Citizen of the Year honours, while Ryan was named Cobargo's Junior Citizen of the Year.
Mr Parr was recognised for his dedication to community groups including the Cobargo Scouts, Cobargo Show Society and Cobargo Rural Fire Brigade.
Ms Dufty has spent more than 20 years teaching swimming lessons in Cobargo and is also involved in the Cobargo Show, Cobargo Folk Festival and tennis club.
Ryan was Cobargo Public School captain in 2013 and was acknowledged for being a "wonderful leader" and his willingness to help others.
Another popular figure on Sunday was the Bega Valley's official Australia Day Ambassador Catriona Rowntree.
Ms Rowntree, the star of hit TV travel show Getaway, said she “begged for the role” to be the Valley’s ambassador.
During her speech, Ms Rowntree said she could feel the “spirit of the people here”.
Ms Rowntree discussed the importance of celebrating your passions and following your dreams.
Ms Rowntree said she loved visiting this area, adding the Sapphire Coast was a "natural beauty".
